Founded by Scott Kelman and Melanya Helene
Scott Kelman, creator of "kelmanworks" and founder of the Brooklyn Bay, whose training and performance-making techniques have inspired thousands, died on Thursday, February 22, 2007. His death, came as a culmination of long-term health problems.
Scott Kelman
--the conjurer, the dreamer, the one who loved to pull the
rug out from under you and watch you find your form before you hit the
ground. He wasn't easy, but he was real. He spoke his mind, he
followed his vision. We have all benefited from his relentless pursuit of a way to
live and create, being mindfully present moment after moment after
moment. Allowing yourself to be informed--without reaching; giving up creative
responsibility, yielding with energy, always asking yourself: "What
haven't I checked out lately?", always seeking the space that needs you most-
moment to moment. Practicing the process that he was continually developing has
changed so many lives. His work took place in the realm of "Performance,"
but it was about so much more than theater. It was about the REAL
performance, the one we all do every day.
Thank you Scott
